Where to find us
The Harrogate Backgammon Club holds a weekly club night, every Monday from 7pm-9pm.

Get Involved
Play Backgammon in Harrogate
You don't need to know how to play backgammon before you come, plenty of our members started off knowing very little before catching the backgammon bug! All we ask is you attend with a view to having fun (and bring a board if you have one!)
Play Backgammon across the UK
We can wholeheartedly recommend tournaments across the UK, at least one member will have been to each event publicised by the UKBGF. If you're interested in playing more competitively, we also recommend UKBGF membership.
The Harrogate Open
Since 2023, Alex has been running the Harrogate Open, which has been on the UKBGF Tour since 2026. 64 players from across the country play over a weekend in May.

Rules & Etiquette
As most of our games are social, we are happy to show you the ropes! However as you learn to play and start attending tournements, inter-club matches or play in our league, it's important to know we use the UKBGF rules and highly recommend reading their article on tournament etiquette.

We do, there is a biannual league which is a good introduction to competitive backgammon, as is one of our inter-club matches such as the 6-monthly events with NEBA.
